Respected Kalavida's- Raghu and Co.,

I would love to see you visiting the USA some time. And I wish your album is available legally in the USA, as soon as possible. :)

I had seen you perform at NITK, Surathkal and by far, I feel it is one of the most earthy and energetic concerts I have attended. The merit of your music is exceptional. The composition and rendering of the notes, the variations in the tempo, the richness of the instruments, is simply amazing. Brilliant mastery of "raaga", "taala", by the band, and of course, the "bhaava" in the mighty vocals of Raghu Dixit. The lyrics of the songs are also something that each of us can relate to, and are powerful and varied, in philosophical depth (as in your adaptation of Shishunala Sharifa's Gudu gudiya and sorutihudu) and contemporary, worldly concerns (as in I am in Mumbai).

Your music will always have a special place in the hearts of Indian youth who are eternally suspended in the Trishanku universe between the so called "modern" and the so called "traditional". I see in your songs, the rhythm, the tune and the message that transcends any attempt at classification of time into eras and music into genres.

Also, your music touches a nostalgic nerve for people of my generation (I am 22), who have grown up listening to folksy tunes on AIR and Doordarshan, learned and practiced classical music then developed a liking for English pop and rock from MTV, your music holds in its songs, a combination of all the music we have liked from the time we were born.

:)

Eagerly awaiting more music from RDP!

Cheers,
Mahesh

Just heard the songs - great stuff!

Here's a suggestion - as another avenue of spreading the good word (nee music), how about encouraging/triggering the guitar players out there (both professional and amateur) to add your songs in their repertoire by posting the chords to the songs on your blog/website.

I in particular would like to have the chords for "Ambar" ... ;-)

I in particular am looking for chords to "Ambar" ;-)
